Cadillac Dominates FP3 at Spa, Ferrari and Aston Martin Close Behind (2026)

The world of endurance racing is heating up as we head into the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, a thrilling chapter in the FIA World Endurance Championship. In the final practice session, it was Cadillac that stole the show, with Will Stevens setting the pace and leading a tight pack of top contenders.

What makes this particularly fascinating is the incredibly close margins between the top teams. Stevens' Cadillac V-Series.R, with its impressive 2:02.379 lap time, was just a whisker ahead of Robert Kubica's Ferrari 499P. And when you consider that the top four cars were separated by less than a tenth of a second, it sets the stage for an intense battle on the track.

Aston Martin, a consistent performer in these practice sessions, continued to showcase its strength with Harry Tincknell's third-place finish. Meanwhile, the second Cadillac, driven by Jack Aitken, completed the top four, highlighting the competitiveness of these teams.

The battle extends beyond the top contenders, with Ferrari's factory cars occupying fifth and sixth positions. Peugeot's 9X8s and Alpine's A424s also made their mark, adding to the diverse mix of manufacturers vying for the top spots.

One detail that I find especially interesting is the performance of the McLarens in the LMGT3 category. Finn Gehrsitz's slight edge over Tom Fleming in the Garage 59 McLarens sets the tone for a tight competition within this class.

As we move into qualifying, the pressure is on for these teams to secure their positions on the grid. With such close times across the board, every second counts, and the slightest advantage could make all the difference.

In my opinion, this practice session has given us a glimpse into the intense competition we can expect throughout the race weekend. It's a testament to the skill and strategy of these teams, and I can't wait to see how the qualifying sessions unfold and who emerges as the frontrunners.
