Another National Firm Chooses Fulton County

Gloversville, NY --- The Fulton County Economic Development Corporation has announced that SYSCO Corporation will be coming to the Crossroads Industrial Park in Gloversville. SYSCO has entered into a lease agreement through the EDC real estate affiliate, Crossroads Incubator Corporation, and will be occupying a 60,000 square foot facility located at 109 Balzano Drive. SYSCO plans to take occupancy of the property immediately and will initially be creating 10 jobs. That property had been available since the expansion of SWANY Corporation to an adjacent building at 115 Corporate Drive. The lease was brokered through Pyramid Brokerage Company, NAI.

“SYSCO Corporation, after completing a search that encompassed several states in the Northeast Region, has chosen to locate here in Fulton County. Our strategic location, which is equidistant to Montreal, Boston, New York City and Buffalo, makes this county a desirable site for national firms who want to set up a distribution network in the Northeast. We are thrilled that they are here and that we were able to accommodate their needs. They are a nationally recognized and reputable company that we take pride in having in our community,” said EDC Executive Vice President, Jeff Bray.
“The completion of this project will put an excellent tenant in a large facility in the Crossroads Industrial Park and the job development is certainly welcomed in our county,” added Bray

SYSCO operates in the distribution of food and related products and services to restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, motels, schools, colleges, cruise ships, sports parks and summer camps. SYSCO provides a full spectrum of foodservice supplies and equipment to complement its broad food product offerings. Customers can receive everything they need for their operations, from front-of-the-house service ware to heavy-duty, back-of-the-house janitorial supplies and everything in between.

Since the initial public offering in 1970, when sales were $115 million, SYSCO - an acronym for Systems and Services Company - has grown to $29.3 billion in sales for fiscal year 2004. In 1977 SYSCO surpassed its competitors to become the leading supplier to “meals-prepared-away-from-home” operations in North America. Since then, the industry it serves has expanded from $35 billion to approximately $210 billion.

Operating from 154 locations throughout the contiguous United States and portions of Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada, today SYSCO’s product lines are as diverse as the 46,300 employees who support its daily operations. Today, SYSCO has sales and service relationships with more than 400,000 customers and remains committed to helping them succeed in the foodservice industry and satisfy consumers’ appetites.
