Johnstown, NY – The Fulton County Economic Development Corporation has announced that Marck Recycling of New York has reached an agreement to purchase the former Doane Pet Care building (5 Clermont Street) from the EDC real estate affiliate, Crossroads Incubator Corporation and will begin setting up operations immediately. Marck will purchase a 42,000 square foot building in the Johnstown Industrial Park on Route 30A and will employ up to 35 people over the next six months as they set up a recycling operation in New York. In addition the Fulton County Industrial Development Agency has agreed to sell Marck Recycling of New York 3.5 adjacent acres to accommodate plans for future growth and development.
Marck Recycling of NY is co-owned by Michelle Cory and Kent Longley. Cory says “The Company will initially be supporting the Wal-Mart Regional Return Center in the Johnstown Industrial Park (Exel) and more than 100 Wal-Mart retail stores in New York State as part of their “Go Green” program.” The company will collect sandwich bales from the various Wal-Mart locations, bring them to the recycling center, sort and separate by component: plastic parts, metals, aluminum, cardboard and paper and then bale, market and sell them. “We are extremely excited to be able to provide this first of its kind, full-service recycling program in New York State for Wal-Mart and look forward to working with the Fulton County community,” said Cory. “The proximity to the Return Center and the logistics of your Industrial Park will allow us to be very efficient in our operations,” she added.
EDC Executive Vice President Jeff Bray said “Fulton County continues to add to its very solid job base and once again, Wal-Mart has proven to be a valuable cornerstone for employment as we continue to build on their presence in this community. The national movement toward ‘going green’ has become a very integral part of corporate business as companies look for ways to make their operations more environmentally friendly and yet remain sensitive to the ever increasing cost of doing business. We certainly welcome Marck to Fulton County and look forward to having them as a business partner in our community. ”
Marck Recycling also has operations in Missouri, Okalahoma, Tennessee, Kansas and Arkansas.
Marck Recycling of NY has hired Plant Manager Jim Kearney and Office Manager Cathy Ann Walensky to head up operations at the facility. Job applicants are encouraged to stop by the offices at 5 Clermont St in the Johnstown Industrial Park to pick up an employment application after October 8th.
